Billiard Ball

Welcome to William Roy Penning's Web Page!

Why "Billiard"?

Nicknames are a part of life. In my years I have received probably more than my fair share, but who's complaining? (Call me whatever you like, just don't call me late for pizza!) When I consider all of the various handles that have been stuck on me, "Billiard" remains one of my favorites.

So in answer to "Why 'Billiard'?": Why not!

About Billiard

Where was I born? Where did I grow up? Where do I live? (Where have all the flowers gone?) This page will (hopefully!) give you the answers to these and more questions about me and my life.

God, the Bible and Christianity

Throughout history, people have sought the answers to age-old questions such as, Where did I come from? Why am I here? And most importantly, Where am I going? Here, I give you the answers that I found in my life.

Read my Three-Fold Challenge regarding missions.

The Cosmos

Since I was a squalling rugrat, I have always had an interest in things in the sky. Stars and planets have always fascinated me. At one time I was even studying to be a professional astronomer. Here you can find out a bit more about the heavens that declare the glory of God, and why I turned away from stargazing as a career.

Billiard and Computers

I grew up during the Computer Age, witnessing the birth of the PC and everything else that came along with it. How did it affect my life? What part do these marvelous electronic tools play in my life? (Do I really have a microchip for a brain?)

About Billiard's Work

Working as a computer consultant with SIL International may not be the most lucrative job, but it is definitely rewarding. Here you can read the latest news from Billiard, as well as where he is currently, and how we get the job done through the Three-Fold Challenge.

About Brazil

Brazil is a huge country. I have lived and worked in it off and on since the early '90's. I have included just a bit here about the history, people and language.

The World according to Billiard

Everyone has an opinion, right? Well, I'm no different than anyone else. Sometimes I've been told to sit down and shut up, even threatened once with physical violence if I didn't keep my opinion to myself. But here is my opportunity to put it up for the whole world to see. (And if you still don't like my opinion, you're welcome to click on the little X in the upper right corner.)

You can also read my Op Ed Commentary, and a copy of the United States Constitution (PDF).

Roy W. Penn Science Fiction

Science Fiction just happens to be one of my favorite literary genres. Maybe it has something to do with the same drive that led me to spend nine and a half years of my life studying Physics and Astronomy (see About Billiard). Maybe I'm just a space cadet. Either way, I have a personal vested interest in the works of Roy W. Penn, and so here on this site I am promoting them.

Travels

For some people, the fun part of a vacation begins once you get there. For others, it's the trip itself. I enjoy both. Plenty of pictures!

Just for Fun

Here is a collection of jokes, anecdotes, and whatever else I can come up with, collected and made available for your entertainment. If you have anything (clean!) that you would like to contribute, don't hesitate to send it to me!
